Edi Sedgewick

I saw the film 'Factory Girl' yesterday and i previously didnt know much at all about Edi Sedgewick but aftr watching this it sparked an intrest. I love these photographs down below mianly because of the framming and high contrast of colour.

The Young Knives

Today the Young Knives did an instore perfromance in JUmbo Records. It was pretty much a secret gig as they forgot to advertise it until 3.00pm on the day when they were due to play at 4.30pm. Howevvver it was an amazing set and i have wanted to see them for a while now, and as it wasnt advertised hardly anyone turned up! Here are some of the photos i took:

The lead guitarist is called Craig Sharp and i worked with him in Fopp last year, hes a hillllarious guy! Recently there band is becoming picked up on and last week interviewed and played on Zane Lowes show on Radio 1...imprresssive.

These photos are images which i took for my last moduale representing the obsesstion and controlling sense which body image and weight can cause. I wanted the photos to show the distress and aggitation of the individual, as though she was trying to cut the body fat out of her with the ripples and cruves in her own body. the orginal idea was the start with a single photo of the girl measuring herself lossley, barely touching the skin, then progresstion into her almost cutting into herself. The photos are shocking and disturbing, this personally i think is the best way if you are wanting to provoke a reaction from the veiwer.

Part of my Book breif, the line which i had chossen was to make a flip book producing 100 new possibale faces to be made from the orginals. This was all done by cutting and cropping and arranging the faces so they matched up perfectly. Here are some of my examples and early design sheets:
